ENT AN 105
variable shock absorber
IN ENT AN 110
E; a
DEF AN 115
Shock absorber that can be switched between two or more damper settings manually or by solenoid valves actuated by the electronic control module; or by a solenoid actuator that continuously varies the damping force. (R)|ab|
CONT AN 120
The sensor signals are fed into the microcomputer of the control unit which determines the optimum damping force according to the running conditions. Control signals are then sent to adjust the damping force of variable shock absorbers to the optimum values. |a| The fully active system can be modified so that the actuator is only capable of dissipating power rather than supplying it as well. In practical terms, the actuator then becomes a continuously variable damper which is theoretically capable of tracking a force demand signal independently of instantaneous velocity across it. |b|
SYN AN 130
1- variable damper |E; c|
2- variable rate damper |E; d|
3- variable damping shock absorber |E; e|
4- shock absorber with variable damping |E; f|
: 131
CONT 1: In order to enable proper implementation of the control strategy described above, a variable damper with fast modulation and wide dynamic-range capability is required. The valve configuration selected can be defined as solenoid actuated, 2-position, 2-way, 2-stage, normally open (pilot) pressure control. |c|
CONT 3: A practical method for varying damping force is as follows: a variable damping shock absorber is used. Normally, damping force is set to "low" setting (soft). The damping force is changed to "firm" when the vehicle changes its posture as occurs during cornering, braking and accelerating. With this concept, a magnetic solenoid actuator is usually used to vary damping force. |e|
ENT ADD AN 135
1- switchable damper |E; g|
: 136
NOTE 1: In the case of a solenoid valve switching between two or more damper settings, the "variable shock absorber" is synonymous with "switchable damper". (R)

ENT FR 205
amortisseur variable
IN ENT FR 210
n m; F; h
DEF FR 215
NOTE FR 225
Dans le cas où la force d'amortissement de l'"amortisseur variable" est modifiée par des électrovannes, il est synonyme d'"amortisseur adaptatif". (R)
