DEF AN 115
Pressure applied to the wheel. (R)
CONT AN 120
If, for example, a wheel drives over a brick on an otherwise even road the wheel on a conventional car would compress, the wheel load would increase, and the car itself would also be lifted up. In the case of an axle with active suspension this tendency towards a wheel load increase would be sensed. The servo-valves direct so much oil into the operating cylinders that the wheels are kept at their individual static wheel loads. |a| Semi-active or active suspensions not only increase comfort, but also permit the system to be switched over if required in order to improve the transmission of forces at the points of contact between tire and road surface by minimizing the dynamic wheel loads. |b|
