ENT AN 105
shock absorber
IN ENT AN 110
E; ab
DEF AN 115
A device to control suspension motions by producing reactive forces that are functions of velocity and position. |b|
CONT AN 120
The purpose of the shock absorber is to rapidly damp the oscillations of the vehicle body (driving comfort), reduce the dynamic wheel load fluctuations and prevent the wheels from lifting off the road surface (driving safety). The shock absorber itself consists of a hydraulic cylinder in which a piston moves as flow resistance is overcome. |c|
NOTE AN 125
Standard : SAE J1451 in115.
SYN AN 130
1- damper |E; de|
2- shock damper |E; f|
: 131
CONT 1: Originally called "shock absorbers", dampers were first introduced in the 1920s as a palliative to reduce excessive movements of the front axle. |e|
NOTE 1: The term "damper" may also refer to an electrical component defined as "A diode used in the horizontal deflection circuit of a television receiver to make the sawtooth deflection current decrease smoothly to zero instead of oscillating at zero; the diode conducts each time the polarity is reversed by a current swing below zero. |g|
ENT ADD AN 135

ENT FR 205
amortisseur
IN ENT FR 210
n m; F; ad
DEF FR 215
