Two different hydraulic concepts are currently produced on an industrial scale : the return-flow concept, which reduces the pressure in the wheel brakes by returning the drained brake fluid to the master cylinder against the pedal force applied by the driver; and the dynamic flow-in concept, which drains the brake fluid volume required to reduce the brake pressure into the reservoir without pressure and which draws the fluid volume required for subsequent pressure restoration from an auxiliary hydraulic energy source and supplies it to the wheel brakes with the adapted pressure. |d| (KLEI-F/E sept. 1987 : 139)
