Code Lenoch : HUB95
Terme : astigmatisme hors de l'axe
Définition
Aberration monochromatique, se produisant avec des sources ponctuelles situées en dehors de l'axe optique, faisant correspondre à ces points deux droites focales ( sagittale et tangentielle). (LIDI-B : 13, MATH-C : 24 (A))

Terme : off-axis astigmatism
Définition
A monochromatic aberration of point images occurring when light falls obliquely on the system and is focussed not as a single point image but as two perpendicular and separate lines. (ILLI-C : 26 (R))
Code grammaire : N
Contexte
The re-imaging optics transfers the OTA image onto the photocathode of a photon-counting detector with negligible spherical aberration or coma and corrects for the residual OTA off-axis astigmatism. (STSIb-G : 2)
Note
All the rays must pass through two astigmatic foci. The astigmatic focus which is in the meridional plane is called the sagittal focus, and the one perpendicular to the meridional plane is called the tangential focus. (MCGR-B (vol 1( : 8)
